Skinnskatteberg/Kolarbyn

Skinnskatteberg

Skinnskatteberg is a town in Västmanland.

The town, which is located 55 kilometres northwest of Västerås, is an old centre for iron mining. Since the iron mining ended in the early 1900s the industry was dominated by the wood industry for a long time. After major closures and rationalisation of the wood industry the fan producer Systemair has taken over as the largest employer.

Each summer, a well-attended chorus assembly is held here, with both choirs as solo artists from Sweden and other countries.

Kolarbyn

Kolarbyn is a place in the forest where a collection of huts are beautifully located. Many come here to live a few days in one of the huts, it is just like an ordinary hostel, settled a bit more exciting. There is neither electricity nor running water. You sleep well in sleeping bags in front of the crackling fire and wakes up in the morning to the beautiful sound of singing birds. It is guaranteed a warm nature experience for both family and friends.
